The survey reveals a strong focus on relaxation, family-oriented trips, and the excitement of discovering new destinations as primary motivations for travelers.

Noteworthy is the popularity of theme parks, with one in eight respondents expecting to go on a trip to visit one.

For countless travelers, the essence of family time translates into cherished moments spent together on the road. In 2025, more than a third of Filipino travelers—specifically 36%—are setting their sights on. adventures with family. Standing out in the realm of family travel, Indonesians exhibit a remarkable enthusiasm, with a striking 58% planning to-generational journeys alongside their loved ones. This trend highlights the importance of family connections while exploring new destinations. Following family travelers, couples make up 23% of the travel demographic, while solo adventurers represent 19%, showcasing a diversity of travel preferences among Asian explorers.

Easy does it: Relaxation is the top travel motivation, by far

According to a recent survey, the primary motivation for people to travel is to escape the hectic pace of everyday life, with a significant 75% of respondents identifying relaxation as their main reason for embarking on trips. Among different nationalities, Singaporeans uniquely prioritize relaxation, with an impressive 87% of them acknowledging it as their foremost travel desire.

In contrast, travelers from the Philippines demonstrate a broader range of interests. For them, the pursuit of adventure and engaging activities ranks second, with 48% of respondents expressing a preference for this type of travel experience. Additionally, connecting with family and friends comes in third, noted by 45% of those surveyed, highlighting the importance of social bonds in their travel motivations. Overall, the survey underscores the diverse reasons people seek to explore new destinations, with relaxation standing out as a universal theme.

Technology is increasingly becoming a crucial factor in the way people plan their travels. A significant number of Filipino travelers—approximately 87%—indicate that they intend to rely on travel applications to assist them in organizing their trips. Additionally, around 14% of these travelers are intrigued by the concept of virtual reality tours, suggesting a growing interest in immersive experiences that technology can offer.

In comparison, Filipino travelers are showing an even higher affinity for technology when it comes to travel arrangements. An impressive nine out of ten individuals in this group reported that they commonly utilize travel apps during the booking process. This demonstrates a strong trend toward leveraging digital resources to streamline travel planning and enhance the overall experience, highlighting how technology continues to revolutionize the travel industry across various demographics.

Travel For Less: Journey more, spend smart

Budget considerations continue to play a crucial role in travel decisions among Filipinos. A notable 74% of travelers express intentions to keep their accommodation expenses below $250 per night. This suggests a strong sensitivity to pricing, yet it doesn’t appear to deter international exploration. Remarkably, 88% of respondents anticipate maintaining or increasing the number of trips they take in 2024 compared to the previous year.

Among these travelers, a significant 52% are looking to venture beyond their borders, indicating a robust interest in international travel. This trend is particularly pronounced among travelers from Hong Kong, where an impressive 82% expect to travel internationally. Furthermore, more than a quarter of those surveyed (27%) aim to strike a balance between domestic and international travel, seeking a diverse range of experiences both at home and abroad. This data highlights a dynamic travel landscape in which budget-conscious individuals continue to prioritize exploration despite financial constraints.

In and Out of Office: Traveling on and off the clock

In a recent survey, it was revealed that 23% of Filipino respondents anticipate going on traditional business trips in the near future. However, the survey also highlighted a significant shift towards the growing trend of digital nomadism. This refers to borderless workers who have the flexibility to work remotely from various locations. Notably, 1 in 25 Filipino respondents envisions themselves working remotely by the year 2025, reflecting a broader shift in work culture that increasingly blurs the lines between professional obligations and leisure activities. As companies continue to adopt more flexible work arrangements, this trend is expected to bolster the ranks of digital nomads. Particularly striking is the statistic indicating that among prospective digital nomads in the region, Filipinos are leading the way. Specifically, 1 in 14 travelers from the Philippines expects to blend work with travel experiences, showcasing the desire for a work-life balance that allows for exploration and adventure while maintaining productivity.

#Inspiration: Many ways to discover new destinations

There’s an unparalleled thrill that comes with exploring a destination for the very first time. According to recent statistics, a significant 84% of travelers are planning to venture toward new and exciting locations in 2025. The sources of travel inspiration are diverse and deeply rooted in personal preferences; for instance, 70% of travelers draw motivation from their individual interests and hobbies, which often guide their choice of destination.

Additionally, travelers are increasingly seeking value, with 37% indicating that attractive deals and affordable options play a crucial role in their travel decisions. Recommendations from friends and family also hold considerable weight, influencing 34% of travelers in selecting where to go next.

Interestingly, social media has emerged as a prominent catalyst for travel inspiration, with one in five individuals (23%) turning to platforms like Instagram for ideas on their next adventure. This trend is particularly pronounced among travelers from Malaysia and Indonesia, where 29% of respondents cite Instagram and similar social platforms as their primary source of travel inspiration. As we look to the future of travel, it’s clear that diverse influences continue to shape how people choose their next getaway.
